Smelling Like Best in Show
Wet dog smell? Not so bad, if your pooch was spritzed with Sexy Beast, a signature scent for your household pet.
Aimed at a certain demographic (samples were handed out at New York Fashion Week), the unisex eau de parfum
is a blend of bergamot and vanilla, infused with patchouli, mandarin and nutmeg. It’s a pleasantly tamed-down version of Old Spice, which might be what your collie was craving.
The grooming line’s creator, Renée Ryan, and her team boast backgrounds in cosmetics, though typically for those with two legs. Swiss fragrance house Givaudan developed the smell, a Kiehl’s chemist made sure the ingredients were natural and vegan (for earth-conscious pups), designer Karim Rashid created the sleek bone-shaped bottle and Beth Ehrenberg, formerly with Anna Sui and Escada, acts as marketing and creative specialist. “A lot of the market has tons of chemical and ingredients. We wanted something pure,” Ehrenberg said.
The perfume comes in two versions, a 3.4-oz size for $65 and a 1.7-oz. bottle for $50. Get it (and the accompanying doggie skincare line) at boutique pet stores or online at sexybeaststyle.com.
